Pedvāle Open-Air Museum - Custom Interactive Map

Pedvāle Open-Air Museum - Custom Interactive Map

Pedvāle is one of Latvia's most beloved outdoor sculpture parks. When existing client Exact, a 3D scanning specialist, brought us the idea - we built something neither a museum nor a web agency had done before in Latvia.

Pedvāle's collection spans dozens of sculptures across a large outdoor territory with multiple walking trails, permanent and temporary exhibitions, and a historic manor. The challenge was twofold — build an interactive map that helps visitors navigate the physical space, and integrate real 3D scans of sculptures so anyone in the world could explore the artwork in full detail from their browser.

A Custom Web Application Where Art Meets Technology

Working in close collaboration with Exact, a specialist 3D scanning company, we designed and built a fully custom web application from scratch. The backend runs on Node.js and Express with an SQLite database, giving Pedvāle's team a complete content management system to add new sculptures and map objects independently. The interactive map is powered by Leaflet.js — showing walking trails, sculpture locations, temporary and permanent exhibitions, and points of interest across the entire park. The result is a bilingual LV/EN experience that serves Latvian visitors and international art tourists alike — and makes Pedvāle's collection accessible to anyone in the world, not just those who can visit in person.
